A few historical books have been written about the temples of Hampi in Karnataka, South India. This book is about life on the beautiful Tungabhadra River, or Ganges of the South, where the temples in Hampi first originated. It’s the home of Rama and Sita from the Indian classic, the Ramayana. And of course, the home of the monkey God Hanuman. It is also the location that inspired Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. There are 4 beautiful colored photos of the river, diary entries by the author and poetic texts about the history of a river and the people that have long lived on this river’s banks.
